WTH?!? A Judge Refuses to Marry an Interracial Couple

A Louisiana judge refuses to marry an interracial couple since he doesn't believe in interracial marriage because of the effects such a marriage has on its children.  I have no words really..............I mean WTF?!? I'm stunned and I'm staring in disbelief. I'm getting more pissed by the second. Who does this judge think he is to tell people they cannot marry----to tell them that they cannot love who they love?!

From the article:

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."

Bardwell said he asks everyone who calls about marriage if they are a mixed race couple. If they are, he does not marry them, he said.

Bardwell said he has discussed the topic with blacks and whites, along with witnessing some interracial marriages. He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.

Wow. Asshole. I can't see myself marrying outside my race, but that's just because I personally am not attracted to anyone outside my race. With that said, someday I might find someone outside my race i'm attracted to, an I have no problem with interracial marriages.

Also, there's not such thing as 'race' in humans. We can all interbreed together naturally; we are therefore all human. I know we all look different... but what's the big deal?

I agree--I don't see the big deal either. I don't know if I'll marry outside my race--I sometimes find of other races attractive (certain people in certain races, some races aren't attractive at all to me to date). But for a judge to not marry someone when it's legal for those 2 to get married--OMG. I don't believe it. I had to doublecheck it wasn't an April fools even though it's October. And his whole thing of black people like me! No really, they do! Reminded me of this http://www.blackpeopleloveus.com/ I still can't decide if it's offensive or humorous------I hope it's meant to be a satire.

I should hope that website's a joke! That, or all those people on there sound like fucking morons. "Sally scrubs herself in the shower"? "Johnny always says 'yo dawg' that's how black people speak, it makes me feel special." - What black person would stereotype themselves like that?

...I really hope someone just took random pictures from somewhere and made a bogus website.

I think it's meant to be a satire that points out racist stereotypes people hold. I'm sure some people use it to discuss racism and stereotypes.

It's just I have a hard time sometimes with it b/c.......well, let's put it this way--I don't know how much national/cross-border/global airplay this may have gotten (have you seen it?) but check out the OBAMA/JOKER picture (http://www.krld.com/Sign-Depicting-President-Obama-As-Joker-Stirring-C/5343035) Yes, it's still up in town......

yeah........I have no words....it's totally repugnant, disgusting, etc., and it's from and posted in the town I was born and raised in. I still live in North Texas. I'm so ashamed of this display of ignorance and racism. I just get hear so much crap sometimes that sometimes I'd have no trouble believe that website was set up to mock black people instead of satire of racism.

For him to list all the things he does "for" blacks and to state that he "has" black friends, says it all. I have friends of every race. When I meet someone, I don't have to tell them I have a friend the same color as them to validate me. He actually lets them use his bathroom. I bet they feel so honored. He probably scrubs it down with lye and bleach when they leave. Then to say in his interview that they should be happily married. So what's the problem. Just proves even more that he is an ignorant racist. He still doesn't see what the problem is. I guess in the mind of an ignorant person like him, only inter-racial couples divorce. What a baffoon.

I so totally agree with you. He is such a buffoon it's unbelievable. I kept thinking it's a joke--a very bad in poor taste joke. He reminded me of this website http://www.blackpeopleloveus.com/ , which I can't decide is a joke, satire, or serious (in which case it's very offensive). I really don't understand his type of thinking and I don't want to. I hope he loses his position as a judge.
